How to choose a theme
A theme should match the room, not your favourite colour. A board wants calm and numbers. A pitch wants confidence. A training session needs type people can read from the back. Next to each look is the kind of deck it was made for.
Every colour pair in these themes was chosen to pass the WCAG AA contrast level for text, so slides stay readable on a projector or a video call. Every typeface is free under the SIL Open Font License.
- Pick a dark theme for a screen in a dim room or a video call, and a light one for a bright room or a deck people print.
- Pick one look per deck and keep it. Mixing looks makes a deck feel assembled.
- If your company has brand colours, start from the theme nearest to them.
Each kind of deck has its own outline: the pitch deck, the sales deck, the board update, the training deck and the all-hands.

Questions
Can I use these themes in my own slide tool?
You can match them. Each one names its typefaces, which are free to download, and its colours are shown on the slides. The ready-made themes live in Present, Supernatural's slide app.
Which theme is best for a pitch deck?
Signal, Lumen and Obsidian were made for pitches first. Keynote, Voltage, Poster and Bordeaux suit them too.
Do the themes work on a projector?
Yes. The text colours meet the WCAG AA contrast level on their backgrounds, and the type sizes are set for reading at a distance.
Use it in Supernatural
Supernatural: everything your business runs on, with Blue as your part-time admin. Present is one of its apps. In your workspace, you ask Blue for “a deck in the Ledger theme”. Blue starts from this theme, writes in what you give it, and leaves [brackets] where something is missing. Name a theme, or Blue picks one that suits the kind of deck. Nothing is made until you say yes.
The beta is free and asks for no card.
